What's Going On:
One Nation Under God
The United States of America is in trouble. That much we can all agree on. The finer details are debatable. But it doesn’t matter who’s to blame, Democrats, Republicans (or any other political party), the current President, your local government, The Fed, major corporations, Big Pharma, etc… The main source of the problem comes down to all of us, “We the People”.
The USA was founded on Christian principles. As a nation, the dominant religion has been Christianity (including all forms and denominations). God and His commandments were always at the core of our foundation and the decisions we made. And we as a nation prospered in every way because of it.
God’s Word, the church and strong religious beliefs used to be integral to most Americans in their personal lives. As the people in our nation have been slowly drifting away from God, their churches and away from basic Christian values, our nation as a whole has been suffering.
The best way to fix ANY problem is to
treat the cause, not the symptoms.
The problems our nation is facing today are not insurmountable to God. We can fix all our problems, both personal and national, but not by treating the symptoms. The following is a short list of symptoms due to a larger problem we as a nation are facing. Symptoms such as:
- “the war on drugs"
- “illegal immigration”
- unrest in the Middle East
- a failing economy in recession
All these and more can be solved by faith in God and by all agreeing to hold ourselves and each other accountable to good values.
The main problem we need to solve, the problem
that is at the core of all our symptoms,
is our separation from God.
When we as individuals are close to God then we personally enjoy the benefits of His blessings. When we as individuals are all close to God and come together as a group, as in a nation of people, then we collectively enjoy God’s blessings and protection.
The people in our once great nation have been slowly drifting away from God over the last 100 years. The evidence (symptoms) of this separation can be seen in the eroding of our family units, broken families, soaring divorce rates, increased abortions, increased domestic violence, crime in the streets, governmental corruption, etc.
Works of the Flesh vs. Fruit of the Spirit
As a nation we are in a financial recession heading into a full depression. A full financial collapse is imminent if we stay on the same path of disobedience to God. The people of our nation are suffering increasing instances of severe environmental conditions such as hurricanes, tornadoes, floods and earthquakes. These are all symptoms of a much larger problem looming over us. That problem is separation from God, His blessings and his protection.
Although it’s true that individuals who remain close to God are protected. But we live in a nation among others who are not protected, who are straying from God and His righteous values. This falling away of others affects all of us.
The Old Testament is full of examples of where God’s people strayed from Him and then reaped the consequences of their actions: Famine, pestilence, drought, poverty, wars, invasion and slavery. Our nation is on the brink of disaster. We are seeing some of these very same things happening to us right now, and it’s only going to get worse unless “We the People” repent and turn our hearts back to God TODAY.
"We the People" Must Turn to God
as our Founding Forefathers Once Did
When more than 50% of the people in our nation turn to God for knowledge, wisdom, love, support, blessings and solutions then all our bad symptoms will begin going away. Live for Him, not for yourself. In so doing, God will bless you and those around you. It’s that simple.
God loves His children, we should return His love. We at God’s Word First encourage everyone to turn completely to God today. We especially encourage those who might have turned their backs on God in one way or another. God will protect our nation from evil forces if most of it's people turn to Him.
It’s never too late to turn to God. God is forgiving. No matter what you’ve done or where you’ve been, or how long you’ve been separated from God, know that He is a forgiving God. He is the author of 2nd chances and willing to take you back with open arms.
Don’t wait for a sign, you won’t get one. Don’t wait for God to come to you, He won’t. YOU must turn to HIM.
2 Chronicles 7:14 “If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.”
A Little Prayer Goes a Long Way
Turn to God in all ways and He will be there for you in all ways. Pray for your own forgiveness of sins. Pray that our nation’s leaders turn to God to help them make righteous decisions for us all. Pray that corporate leaders make good decisions and produce products of integrity and value for us to enjoy. Pray that God’s will be done on Earth as it is in Heaven. (The Lord’s Prayer, Matthew 6:10)
When everyone loves and obeys God, then everyone will enjoy a new Godly standard. When everyone holds themselves accountable to a higher power (God), then everyone will get along together and prosper. Our personal problems will be healed and all the evil symptoms in our nation will subside. Our country can be strong again!
National Day of Prayer for America
God’s Word First supports the efforts of The Response and Governor Rick Perry in their call to prayer for a nation in crisis. It’s a National Day of Prayer and Fasting event happening in Houston, Texas.
Although we do not agree with all their doctrinal beliefs, nor do we condone some of the controversial actions of The Response founders, we fully support their heart of love in wishing for all people to turn their hearts to God in prayer for the benefit of our nation.
Please pray for yourself, your family and for your country on Saturday, August 6, 2011 anytime between 10:00AM to 5:00PM. (NOTE: The Response prayer event is over, please pray continually every day for our nations leaders.) If we all raise up our hearts and our voices to God together at the same time, He will most certainly hear our prayers.
Jesus Christ said, “Again I say unto you, that if two [or more] of you shall agree on earth as touching any thing that they shall ask, it shall be done for them of my Father which is in heaven. For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them.” (Matthew 18:19-20 KJV) There is strength in numbers!
Governor Rick Perry, while endorsing this event of national prayer, is quoted as saying,
“Right now, America is in crisis: we have been besieged by financial debt, terrorism, and a multitude of natural disasters. As a nation, we must come together and call upon God to guide us through unprecedented struggles, and thank Him for the blessings of freedom we so richly enjoy. I sincerely hope you’ll join me in asking God’s forgiveness, wisdom and provision for our state and nation. There is hope for America. It lies in heaven, and we will find it on our knees.”
Pray that we elect into office more Godly men with Christian values like Gov. Perry.

Stay your heart on God and “know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to His purpose.” - Romans 8:28
Some say mixing politics with religion is dangerous. I agree, it is dangerous. It could turn into a revolution where righteousness prevails. We need more elected officials and corporate leaders who maintain Godly values. Prayer is a good start but certainly not an end to a means. We all must take action to effect change and make a difference starting within our own hearts then radiating outward.
Christians Ignoring Jesus’ Great Wish for Us
The departing prayer of our Lord: "I will remain in the world no longer, but they are still in the world, and I am coming to you. Holy Father, protect them by the power of your name, the name you gave me, so that they may be one as we are one." - John 17:11 (NIV)
Jesus' departing prayer was for his disciples. He wants God to keep them and care for them. He wants them to find God's peace among themselves. He wants them to be unified; as closely "in sync" as he and his Father are one. I can't think of any other prayer that has been more ignored lately than Jesus' prayer for the unity his followers .
Christianity is fractured and divided amongst itself through strife among various doctrines and denominations, just the way the devil wants it. Our families are being torn apart by lack of unity and meekness toward each other, and toward God.
Together let's make a commitment to be more united with God, in our church congregations, in our personal relationships with other Christians outside of church regardless of differing belief systems and in our relationships with other people all over the country.
Turn to God not only for the good of yourselves, for your family and your church, but for the good of our entire nation.
