In regards to the Bible, Jesus Christ is the leading authority on faith and believing. In so many ways he lays out the example of faith we are all to follow. Believing is the cornerstone of Christianity. The term Christian means we are followers of Christ. Therefore it stands to reason that we should learn everything we can about our Lord Jesus Christ and follow his example to the best of our abilities.
Jesus Christ said in Matt 17:20, “If you have faith as a grain of mustard seed, you shall say to this mountain, Remove hence to yonder place; and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible to you.” Take special not of what he said “NOTHING shall be impossible to you.” Nothing? Is that conditional? What about your gender, heritage or stature? Are you male or female, Jewish, Gentile, European or African? Are you short, tall, skinny, wide, black, white or yellow? It doesn’t matter.
What about your intelligence? Are you young, or old, inexperienced or expert, graduated High School or dropped out, been in College, slow, average or super smart? It doesn’t matter! What about your limitations? Are you crippled, elderly, infirm, deformed, blind or deaf? Again, it does not matter when it comes to faith and believing. What does matter is how you FEEL about faith and believing. THAT is EVERYTHING!
That’s a tough lesson to learn. Remember what Christ said and take it to heart: “If you have faith as a grain of mustard seed, you shall say to this mountain, Remove hence to yonder place; and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible to you.”
Let's break it down. Christ is using physical things as an analogy to describe a spiritual concept. A mustard seed is very small; usually about 1 or 2 mm in diameter yet grows into a large and useful tree.
A mountain is used because it is a very large and seemingly unmovable mount of heavy dirt and boulders. This was stated long mover diesel powered earth movers existed. Back then, if something was to be moved, it was done with human hands. When available, animals were employed for extra muscle.
But the point is that moving a mountain by hand, was and still is a daunting and exhausting task that would take a lifetime to accomplish. Christ said that with a tiny amount of believing one can move a mountain (a metaphor for any seemingly large and daunting task). And it can be moved as easily as speaking it into manifestation.
If it takes only a little bit of believing, about the size of a tiny little mustard seed, then consider how much more you can do with a larger amount of believing. Did Christ lie when he said that? Did he maybe exaggerate or over state himself? I don’t think so, and neither should you if you are a true follower of Jesus Christ. He did all those things he taught about, and more. If he says you and I can move a mountain with just a little amount of faith (believing) then so be it!
The next question that might come to mind is how you get this type of faith and believing that Jesus is talking about so you can do what he says you can do. It begins with your unconditional faith in God and in his Son Jesus. Do you believe God can do anything? He created the heavens, the earth, and all life on the planet including you. That to me qualifies for a high level of believing in God’s ability to do amazing things.
God made Jesus. God gave him authority and dominion over all his creation. Jesus believed in God in all things and in all ways. That’s how he could do what he said he can do. Jesus said we can do what he does IF we have as little as a TINY little amount of faith. That’s pretty awesome!
As a matter of fact, Jesus said we can do everything he can do AND GREATER. – “Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believes on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father.” John 14:12. Do you believe him? I do. I have worked miracles because of it. And so can you.
Remember this equation: Thought + Believing + Action = Manifestation. It begins deep within you. Basically, you are, and you produce what you believe.
Everything begins with a thought or a feeling. Ask yourself what your thoughts begin with. Are they creative, positive, uplifting and supportive? Or are they negative, combative and defeated? It matters; because they feed into the next few steps. If you start with a positive thought and follow through with the next few steps, it will end up being a positive and desirable outcome. That works the other way around too. If you start with a negative thought or feeling, it will end in a bad and undesirable outcome.
You must believe deeply within yourself that God can do anything and that Jesus told us the truth when he said that we can too. Jesus said, and personally demonstrated the fact that we can move mountains (remember, any seemingly miraculous task) just by speaking it (action, works) and then believing that is will come to pass (faith).
You must take action. Jesus said “…you shall say to this mountain…” Saying is action. Speak it out loud. Believing is action. Believe it and feel it deep within your soul. Be thoroughly convinced in your heart that you have the power to affect the world around you just the way Jesus said you can. Then walk forward in your daily life on those actions and beliefs. Those are actions that only you can take for yourself. No one else can do them for you.
That which you think about and focus on will come to pass. It will manifest itself in your life. When the proceeding three steps are performed, something will be the end result. Good, bad or anywhere in between. It all depends on the first thought, then on how each step is performed. If you want good things to happen to you, or the outcome to be good concerning whatever it is you are trying to accomplish, then it MUST begin with a good thought, then a solid positive focus on the desired outcome followed by the appropriate action steps that are necessary all the way to final completion. Anything less will give a proportionally less than desirable result.
You are what you believe. Your life becomes the sum total of that which you focus on the most.
It all begins with your thoughts and feelings regardless of your gender, physical stature, your ethnic background, your education or anything else someone can come up with as an excuse for why something does not turn out right.
You must believe in the power of God, follow Jesus’ example and take the appropriate action steps needed to accomplish that which you desire.
Jesus said you can move mountains and do greater things than he did. Jesus gave you real personal life examples proving his words correct. You can work miracles, you can do the extraordinary, you can move mountains in your life.
Think it, believe it, act on it and it will become reality.
God bless you!
