21) My son, let not them depart from thine eyes: keep sound wisdom and discretion:
22) So shall they be life unto thy soul, and grace to thy neck.
23) Then shalt thou walk in thy way safely, and thy foot shall not stumble.
24) When thou liest down, thou shalt not be afraid: yea, thou shalt lie down, and thy sleep shall be sweet.
In walking with God, we keep our eyes on Him and on His Word. In so doing we keep sound wisdom.
The result: Life unto our souls, grace to our necks and you shall walk SAFELY and shall not STUMBLE. Sometimes life used to seem like a stumbling race, just stumbling from one mistake to the next bigger mistake. No more three-legged races for us. We're going to walk safely, and we are going to walk without stumbling because we covet God’s Word and Understanding.
There's even more to this promise: we can lie down at night and just get a good, pleasant, peaceful refreshing sleep. No more fear, wondering what is happening the next day. No fear wondering about life and our problems. Just a sweet sleep. I'll bet 6 hours or sweet sleep is worth 12 hours of un-peaceful sleep! What a wonderful promise from God.
Walking with God by faith is an adventure in believing. We trust Him, we delight in Him. We acknowledge Him. We honor Him. God takes care of us totally. To walk in the delight of the law of the Lord, to meditate in the Word of God day and night, is to walk with and for God.
This kind of walk is so wonderful. Look what it produces:
- Length of days;
- Long life;
- God will direct your path;
- Your storehouses will be full;
- You will have complete heath and strength;
- Freedom from slavery and bondage of any kind;
- You will be called blessed;
- You will not trip and stumble in your way (metaphorically speaking);
- And you will always get a good nights sleep.
So does God know what we really like or what? He’s got all the bases covered for us. All we have to do is follow his word and all His riches will be added to us. When you are walking with God, delighting in His Word, thinking on it, keeping it close to your heart... AND... you are NOT walking in the counsel of the ungodly... then life is really great. You are planted, producing good fruit. Not withered, but Prospering.
While walking with God, we are to keep our eyes on Him and on His Word at all times. In so doing we gain deep understanding and sound wisdom in all things pertaining to life and Godliness. We're going to walk safely, and we are going to walk without stumbling because we covet God’s Word and Understanding.
